“I’ve known Morag a long time. Around 15 years ago, I needed specialist, behavioural help with my Schipperkes, Bounce, (dog reactive) and, Sparrow, formerly my late mother’s dog (sound sensitive). I tried many dog behaviourists in and around West Yorkshire. Not impressed!

Then I came across Morag and decided to give it one last try. Good decision!. The dogs liked her and so did I. She was kind and calm, knew what she was doing, and she gave me the tools and motivation to start trying to help them.

In old age, Sparrow lost his sight and his hearing began to fail. Morag knew exactly what to teach me, to help him to cope with an increasingly difficult world. Eventually having lost both dogs, I adopted a 3 year old Schipperke who had had a difficult first few years.

She was afraid of men and dogs and didn’t like or trust me, or indeed, anyone else! She would allow nobody else in the house and I wondered whether I had bitten off more than I could chew. Then Morag came, and with her methods, things started to improve. Two years later, I am Ruby’s best friend, dogs and people are almost unproblematic, and my friends can come into the house. We’re almost there, thanks to Morag’s insight and the tools she provided.

Morag has supported me and my rescue dogs twice now through behaviour challenges. First with my anxious Labrador and then again through sound sensitivity with my lovely staffie.

Both times she listened with compassion and understanding, before giving us clear and manageable guidance. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her services – she has been the light we needed to guide us through the storm!

“Morag could not have been any more supportive. I have a very challenging dog and even in between sessions Morag is always at the end of the phone or contactable by email for advice. I have learnt so much from her and she has completely changed my relationship with my dog for the better. She has also helped with any other behavioural ‘issues’ that have cropped up along the way. Although there is still a long way to go, I have noticed a huge improvement in my dog’s behaviour since I began working with her and she has meant that I now actually enjoy walking my dog!

Morag is very patient and she has probably taught me more than she’s taught my dog! By doing this I feel she has given me the tools to be able to handle my dog with confidence in a variety of situations. This has made life so much less stressful for both me and my dog! I really don’t know what I would have done without her and would highly recommend her to anyone that is having behavioural difficulties with their dog.

“When I first contacted Morag, my dog was really struggling with reactivity towards other dogs and people. It was stressful for both of us, and I felt at a loss about how to help him.

Morag was incredibly supportive and knowledgeable from the very beginning. She took the time to understand my dog’s individual needs and put together a clear, practical plan that we could follow step by step. With her guidance, I quickly began to see positive changes. My dog is now calmer and more confident around other dogs and people.

I am so grateful for Morag’s patience, expertise, and encouragement. She hasn’t just helped my dog; she’s given me the tools and confidence I needed as an owner. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for kind, effective behaviour support.”

“I can honestly say we were very despondent by the time we found Morag, Kalli just couldn’t cope around other dogs at all. Morag was the first (& only) behaviourist or trainer to really look for/at the root cause of Kalli’s (& our) challenges.

Once Morag had decided she could help, her commitment was unstinting and she was honest in telling us what really lay at the bottom of Kalli’s problem, even though it was difficult to hear – her puppy socialisation with other dogs was not what it should have been. Consequently, she did not have the skills to cope around other dogs  particularly those who were not under control & off lead. This led to her reactivity towards all dogs.

We saw a big change in Kalli whilst working with Morag. She became calmer, would disengage from other dogs more easily. We began working with a calm dog, from a distance at first, gradually getting closer with a meet and greet!

As owners, we became more confident when we were out and about as Morag equipped us with the skills/strategies to manage situations. She opened up a whole new world for us. She encouraged us to think outside the box in our approach and always in a positive way.

I can say, unequivacally, Morag has a unique gift in being able to bring out the very best in both dogs and owners alike. If you are looking for a behaviourist who is honest, caring, committed and passionate about their work then look no further!!

bertie

“Bertie was extremely reactive to other dogs, especially if off-lead dogs approached him or if dogs on lead got too close.  He is a rescue dog, picked up as a stray and we suspect he has been mistreated. When we first got him he would even react to another dog being way down the road on the other side.  He would bark, spin about on his lead, rear up and lunge.  It made walking Bertie very hard work and stressful. We waited to see if things would calm down again with Bertie but it felt like he was getting worse and all our hard work and been undone.

From the very first phone call with Morag I felt like a big weight had been lifted and that we were going to get the help and support we needed.  She took the time to listen to our concerns and put our mind at rest immediately.

She was great with Bertie and us.  She immediately made us feel relaxed and that we would be able get Bertie back on track. She always worked at Bertie’s and our pace and never pushed any of us.  She always explained his behaviour in a way that allowed us to understand why he was acting the way he was and she taught us about the very subtle body language that he was giving off way before he would react so we could put in to action the coping mechanisms and training that she had taught us.  We learnt a huge amount!

Bertie is much happier than he has ever been and far more relaxed now, even at home.  He is so much better on walks.  Whenever we see another dog on our walks he nudges me straight away for a treat instead of reacting to them!  It has made a huge difference to our daily walks and they are so much more relaxing.

“I would have no hesitation in recommending Morag to you. Morag is a highly experienced dog trainer and super intuitive people person. I first met Morag when Skye my Labrador x Border Collie was only young but in need of serious activities to keep her happy and fulfilled, not frustrated and anxious. Skye is a very intelligent and sensitive dog and Morag brought out her full potential by helping me fulfil her needs.

We learnt so much from Morag and I will always be forever grateful to her for her expert advice and detailed training plans. The groundwork that we learnt enabled Skye to be successful in scentwork, canicross, agility, disc-dog, rally, mantrailing and her latest success, qualifying for the national finals of Hoopers UK.

But I think more important than all that, Morag helped me to support Skye to be the perfect family dog, trustworthy and a delight to live with, to fit in with our family and our lifestyle. It was hard work at times because all dogs have their challenges but Morag is always understanding, supportive and positive and just a lovely person to be around. We are so lucky to have had her as our trainer.”
