By making a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and fully accept our terms and conditions as detailed below:

Bookings, cancellations & rescheduling

Confirming your appointment

Payment in full, at least 7 days in advance, is required to confirm your booking.

You will receive an acknowledgement via email including any necessary information such as directions, preparation and so forth.

Cancellation and rescheduling

Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule a booked session.

You may cancel or reschedule your booking without additional fees provided you contact us at least 72 hours in advance via email, telephone or WhatsApp.

Cancellation with less than 72 hours notice, you will forfeit the session. Exceptional circumstances may be taken into account at our discretion.

Rescheduling with less than 72 hours will incur an additional £50 charge. Exceptional circumstances may be taken into account at our discretion.

Rescheduling due to temperature/weather

Extremes of temperature and weather have the potential to adversely affect the welfare of both animals and humans. While outdoor sessions will normally go ahead in bad weather, they may need to be rescheduled, transferred to a virtual session, or take place indoors. These decisions are made at our discretion and as much notice as possible will be given.

Working together

Creating an effective working relationship for behaviour change

We undertake to provide an accurate assessment of your dog(s) behaviour as far as possible based on our observations and the information you have provided. We do not offer guarantees of success as results are highly dependent on circumstance and your adherence to the plan. It is not always possible to safely modify an animal’s behaviour.

We will summarise the findings in a written report. Where a behaviour modification plan has been requested, we will create a personalised treatment plan and help you to implement this. A summary will be sent to the referring veterinarian.

We will send you training plans and/or brief reminders after each follow-up session. You are responsible for putting the strategies into practice, and tracking your progress. While we will send reminder emails and texts, you are responsible for updating progress logs or contacting us with progress reports.

If you have not responded to our emails and texts after three reminders we will assume you have decided to not to continue with our services. You will be removed from our active client list. You may reapply for additional support.

Honest disclosure of relevant information

By engaging our services you agree that all information provided regarding your animal’s behaviour, history, and any relevant circumstances is truthful, accurate, and complete to the best of your knowledge.

You acknowledge that withholding, misrepresenting, or failing to disclose pertinent details, such as previous aggression, medical conditions, or behavioural concerns, may pose a significant risk to the safety of the practitioner, yourself, the animal, and others.

Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, all animal owners and keepers have a legal duty of care to ensure the welfare of their animals and to prevent harm to others. In the case of dogs, the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and related legislation impose additional responsibilities to prevent a dog from being dangerously out of control.

Failure to provide full and honest disclosure may result in the immediate termination of services without refund, and we shall not be held liable for any consequences arising from such omissions. You accept full responsibility for any legal repercussions that may arise from undisclosed behavioural issues or other relevant factors.

Techniques, equipment and training approaches

We follow the code of conduct set out by their registering organisations (APBC, PACT and the ABTC). We will not recommend the use of harsh handling, aversive techniques and equipment intended to punish e.g. choke chains, prong collars, pet correctors etc.

Where you are currently using such equipment/techniques, we will support you with finding suitable alternatives.

General terms & conditions

Health of your dog

If your pet is ill or suffers an injury immediately prior to or during a consultation, event or session, please notify us as soon as possible. Do not bring your pet to a consultation, event or session if they is ill or injured, or has been infected with, or has been in contact with another dog infected with, a contagious disease.

If your pet is neutered immediately prior to or during a consultation, event or session, please notify us as soon as possible.

If your bitch comes into season immediately prior to or during a consultation, event or session, please notify us as soon as possible.

Safety

Dog training is a physical activity and as such owners are reminded to train with due care and attention to their own safety and that of others. Owners are responsible for the conduct of their dog at all times. Neither Morag K Heirs (Changing Canine Behaviour) nor any person acting on behalf of them accept any liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to dogs, handlers, spectators or any other persons or property whatsoever. The Dog Owners’ Liability Act 1990, chapter D.16 section 2. “Liability of the owner” applies within all sessions.

Working with dogs covered by the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991)

If your dog is of a type is prohibited under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 you must provide a copy of their Certificate of Exemption before your first consultation.
The owner/handler is responsible for complying with all legal requirements during consultations, events and sessions.

Photographs and recordings

Where informed consent has been granted: photographs and/or recordings may be taken by, or on behalf of Morag K Heirs (Changing Canine Behaviour) during consultations, events and other activities for educational and publicity purposes.
No other photographs and/or recordings may be taken without prior permission.

Events

Bookings

Bookings are not confirmed without confirmation from ourselves
Completed booking forms and full fee must be received by the specified date in order to confirm the booking.

Cancellation of event/workshop bookings

All cancellations must be notified to, and acknowledged by, Morag K Heirs (Changing Canine Behaviour) in order to receive a refund.

Refund structure:
Two months or more from Event = full refund
Less than two months but more than four weeks from Event = 75% course fee refund, e.g. Event fee £100.00, refund = £75.00
Four weeks or less from Event = no refund except in exceptional circumstances.
